Robert Cooney, MD, FACEP, board-certified Emergency Medicine physician at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (PaACEP). PaACEP promotes the delivery of quality care and supports the professional endeavors for emergency physicians. Dr. Cooney will serve a three-year term as one of 15 members responsible for the governance of the chapter. Joining PaACEP as a medical student in 2005, Dr. Cooney has played an active role in the chapter’s education committee.  “It is an honor to be selected by my peers to fulfill this role,” says Dr. Cooney. “Medicine is changing rapidly and there are many challenges to providing quality emergency care. I look forward to helping support chapter initiative to reduce overcrowding, advocate for our patients’ access to emergency care and provide leadership in the changing healthcare environment.”
